Location

Our sauna will live on the Wild Atlantic Way at Renville Pier, Oranmore, Co. Galway.

This hidden gem of a harbour is nestled on the north side of Galway Bay, near Oranmore. On a clear day, you can enjoy view of the Burren and BlackHead to the South and Salthill/Connemara to the North. There are wonderful walks to enjoy in the park and along the headland. Renville offers dippers a relatively safe open water swim location. Add a sauna to the mix and we have something truly special.

Renville is sheltered from all winds except a Westerly but it takes stormy weather to make it unswimable. Our swim community swim here all year round and it is possible to swim at all stages of the tide. Some go in off the slip-way (which can be slippery / best avoided in sailing months), others go in off the pebble beach to the west of the wall and slipway.

Renville is a working pier with commercial fishing and leisure sailing/boating taking place in the area. There is a swim channel marked with yellow bouys and swimmers are encouraged to swim in this channel between the yellow bouys and the shoreline. If you are going for a swim it is recommended that all swimmers wear a tow-float for visibility to fishermen and sailors. For more info on swim etiquette and safety visit:
